LET GROW PLAY CLUB
At The Soul Project, we support the Let Grow movement and believe that children learn important skills and life lessons when adults don’t get involved every step of the way.
This new kind of play program is the brainchild of Let Grow co-founder Dr. Peter Gray, the eminent psychologist who has spent his life studying the crucial role of unstructured, mixed-age “free play” in developing children’s creativity, confidence, and ability to thrive.
We at The Soul Project are thrilled to host ONE Let Grow-inspired Play Club each month. This will be open to girls and boys ages 4-12.
All parents and children must sign our Play Club agreement at drop-off.
What is Play Club
Welcome to our Let Grow Play Club — a new activity where kids make their own fun,
without adults organizing it — looks like “just plain fun.” But that “fun” is how Mother Nature disguises the hard work. Because it is “fun” to play ball, kids learn the difficult skills of focus, compromise, and empathy. Build with blocks, you learn to problem solve. Play superheroes, you learn to imagine. Play freeze-tag? Self-control.
Fall down? You get back up so you can keep playing.
Someone’s cheating? You figure out how to make things work — so you can play some more.
We often think we are helping our kids by structuring every hour of their lives with adult led activities but we are actually removing opportunities for them grow and develop real life skills. Our Let Grow inspired Play Club gives kids back the resilience-building playtime they need. It is supervised by adults, but they do not organize the fun or solve the spats (think of us as lifeguards watching over a pool full of kiddos).
The chance to collaborate with friends, resolve disputes, and bounce back from disappointments are confidence-and-character-building opportunities. At our Play Club, kids get the social interaction they need to develop into empowered adults.
Upcoming Play Club Dates
Our Play Club is a drop-off program open to all boys and girls ages 4-12. Caregivers must sign their kids in and out with our designated staff member and sign our Play Club agreement before leaving their child. As we pilot this program, Play Club will be free with a suggested donation of $5 per child (donations will be accepted at the event).
Let’s Play!
kid(s) agree(s) to follow the 3 Play Club rules:
No deliberately hitting or physically hurting anyone.
No leaving the grounds without permission.
Listen to the adults, who intervene only when they must.
Parent Pledge:
• I understand that not all kids will be happy all the time at Play Club.
• I agree that the adults will not intervene in the children’s disagreements.
• If my child deliberately hurts someone, they need to take a break.
• I understand that this is a chance for my child to become resilient, resourceful, and mature.
🌟 Let Grow Play Club – March 9 🌟
Join us for our next Let Grow Play Club on Sunday, March 9th, from 10:00 - 11:15 AM at Howard Gymnasium in West Bridgewater!
This unique, child-led play experience is open to boys and girls ages 4-12 and gives kids the chance to run, create, collaborate, and problem-solve—all without adult intervention. Play Club is supervised, but the fun is entirely up to the kids!
🔹 Location: Howard Gymnasium, West Bridgewater
🔹 Time: 10:00 - 11:15 AM
🔹 Ages: 4-12
🔹 Cost: Free, with a suggested $5 donation per child
🔹 Donate: https://www.thesoulproject.co/donate
How It Works:
Kids will jump into open-ended, self-directed play, where they learn resilience, teamwork, and confidence. Parents drop off and let kids take the lead while we act as “lifeguards” to ensure safety—not to solve every disagreement or structure the fun.
Let’s give kids back the gift of play—see you there! 💫
